Native range: Basins of the Black, Caspian, Azov and Aral seas, as well as rivers of the Pacific Ocean's basin (from Amur River at the north to Burma at the south) (Zhukov 1988).
Date of introduction/first record: A part of Belarusian carp population was likely formed due to natural spread via the Dnieper River. A lot of Belarusian waterbodies were also intentionally seeded with this fish, especially in the second half of the 20th century (Zhukov 1988).
Vector: Natural spread, intentional introduction.
Records in Belarus: Cyprinus carpio occurs in all parts of Belarus.
